Cover those fluffy things

Ok-so there is an unwritten rule - it is quite simple - there is no wearing of knee high socks with knee high boots. NOT necessary! I was shocked when I saw this as a reoccurring theme in Melbourne. The first time I observed this was at a tram stop at Melbourne Central. I turned to my left and saw a pair of brown plain knee high boots. The young lady was wearing a black skirt which was fine, but coming up next was a feral site. She was wearing lilac knee high, fluffy socks which had been snuck into her boots. The lilac socks had a disgraceful trimming attached to them which were sewn nicely around the edge...they were tiny silky bows. No need kids! Seriously, it was a shocking look. This girl is not the only offender I have seen sporting this horrible attire. Just the very next day I saw a second ridiculous pair of legs. This beauty was waltzing around with black knee high boots, with heels may I add, but with a cream coloured pair of knee high socks peaking out above the boots as well as wearing a very messy pair of thin stockings. Once again- no need girls! Wear leggings or tights. You want colours - easily fixed – there are an abundant range of pretty coloured, spotty and patterned tights around. It is ridiculous at the amount of options women can potentially wear inside boots, under skirts and under trousers. Why is the sock suddenly shining through! I’m quite confused. You can wear socks – that’s fine, it does get quite chilly in winter but I am 100 % sure that you can purchase socks that fit snuggly under and in your boots so that they are never exposed to the public arena. It is simply not a great look. As they say pain is beauty. This is not a situation where women suffer immensely as there is nothing stopping you from wearing heaps of layers of socks under your clothes and 2 pairs of tights if you must. It was one of the most interesting things I have seen and I must admit, I was quite shocked. I would never wear massive socks under my knee high boots. Is that not the whole point of purchasing a pair of stylish knee-high boots in the first place? It was very odd...I am intrigued by this new offence...what is going on?
