Bright Jeans
August 17th 2006 00:55
In todays tipsy turvy world of fashion it seems retro 80s style is coming back in, apparently more fashionable than in the 80s. I question anybody who suggests we can make 80s clothes look good. The bright blue, red orange and pink jeans I have been noticing recently seems to have taken a hold on the style guru's on today. My question - in 5 years time will we look back on them and say they were a good idea? I think the inevetiable question is no, no, no, no no.
Im not totally against the jean, they look good teamed with a ridicuously good looking gal/guy. However they are like a spotlight on the wearer and immediately suggest the size of the ego of the person wearing the jeans.
I think we have to look out for ourselves in fashion. Unfortunately, whether rightly or wrongly, people make an impresssion on us for what we wear. A "bum" is noticed almost immediately because of his dress. Largely a "drugie" is pinpointed because he dresses like one. What do our clothes say about us? Are we rebelling against what they say like the goths or even the emotional rockers. To what point will fashion rule our society to place judgements on others we have never met.
Now, i am definately one to pass judgement on the choice of clothes on others. Mostly because that is what i set this blog up for, but occassioanlly you have to stop and think for a second about what the reaction is from your actions.
I hope this may have pursued peoples thoughts a little in regards to what they will wear tonight.
