Sock-it-up

What is up with the whole ‘flashdance’ image making its appearance again? I was down in Torquay the other weekend and spotted some odd fashion sense. It was sort of like ‘sporty spice’ / a ‘flashdance’ chick had morphed into one odd looking lassie.
While walking the streets of the serene town - she was spotted. There, the young girl was sporting just a plain pair of black leggings, teamed with a t-shirt, jacket and sneakers. This was all cool – apart from the fact that she was wearing a pair of slightly longer socks than usual and had tucked her leggings into them. The socks were stretched quite high above her ankles – not knee length but they were clearly not inconspicuous either.
It looked a little bit ridiculous. As we were walking past, we heard her friend make a joke about the attire of the young girl and she proceeded to laugh it off commenting on how the socks kept her ankles ‘nice and toasty’. Ok this should not be allowed. If she wanted to keep her ankles warm, then the shoes she should have worn down there would have been a pair of boots. Not a black, lace-up pair of canvass cloth shoes. One drop of water on them and her whole body would be no where near the ideal ‘toasty’ feeling she was wanting to experience.
It looked a little bit sporty, but a little bit weird at the same time as her outfit selection did not really suit the location she was prancing around. This sort of attire is quite cosy but should possibly be reserved for when one is plodding around their house with no intentions to leave this location, going for a run or a “transit” outfit while one waits to get changed into something more classy to hit the town.
It was a strange occurrence and for one to plan that outfit and then proceed to wear it in public displays a little bit of lazy-ness. It’s cool to wear the outfit described but maybe if your out for a stroll with your buddies, dress up a bit (in a particular style you love) as it makes you feel awesome and you won’t get comments about your alternative or lazy dress sense.
