The frock and scarf combo
June 25th 2008 06:50
What the hell is with people not knowing what season it is? I realize the winter months in Melbourne are quite chilly and crisp however, this does not call for poor “keeping-warm tactics”. After venturing out on the weekend – I discovered a horrific image– some chick was wearing a black and white leopard print silky dress...(really I could just rant about this item of clothing that wrapped itself around the offender’s frame – but I shall not because I have something more ridiculous to expose)
The frock had the whole thing going for it including the whole “low v-neck thing”, it was just above the knee and if worn on someone else- it probably would have looked classy. (Although still very doubtful after reconsidering the frock). Call me evil but as soon as she walked in with her lame white wedding-shoe style sandals it was all over from there. I got the giggles and could not refrain from chuckling. Anyway, what got me more was the fact that yes – it was pretty darn cold on Saturday night and she was wearing a coat however, after removing her coat she failed to remove the black scarf from around her neck...did she forget? I had secretly hoped so but after two hours I knew that, that scarf was not going anywhere and it was going to torment me for the next five hours!
Ok logically thinking - how the hell is a ratty little scarf going to keep you warm if
* one you have removed your jacket and
* two you are obviously not that cold if u do not require a jacket in the first place...
It clearly indicated that either the young girl had some growth on her neck she was trying to cover or only her “throat” was cold. Who knows, all I know is that it looked ridiculous. If you are cold then you may as well go all the way and stick with the coat and ditch the scarf in your handbag. You would look much classier in photos if this was the avenue you took as opposed to saying “cheese” in happy snaps while holding your massive jacket in one hand, your handbag in the other and sporting a scarf in a venue which was probably 30 degrees at the time this girl appeared as a fool.
If she thought she would have frozen various parts of her body, the evening that she pranced out to have some jolly good fun with alcoholic beverages, then why didn’t she initially dress warmer? Her dress was not the best looking set of threads one has ever seen so her best option on the night probably would have been to have simply changed her whole darn outfit and gone with a pair of jeans...Even if she wore a tiny top above the belt line she would have looked like less of a fool if she had permanently attached the scarf around her neck as opposed to the whole frock and scarf combo!
Okay so what we have established here is that tiny dresses and massive scarves worn together, in unison, with no coat or jacket present should be avoided....When chilly times provoke frostbite or the onset of hypothermia, it is simply best to leave your jacket on until you are warm enough to remove any signs of winter attire including scarves, gloves, beanies and ear muffs!
How do you fix this and ensure a cozy body temperature without freezing to death you ask? – drink up kids!
Works a treat!
