THE FURRY CLOGS

Oh my goodness me!
There they were – what appeared to be the feet of a bear! I did not realize what I was looking at until I properly focused on the moving objects towards me. I was staring at the ground when the two little beasts (and obviously their owner) ceased to move as they came to a standstill at the bus stop. The shoes were backless and quite rounded at the front. They were not very well concealed by the short flared jeans the woman was wearing (which in actual fact were a disgrace in themselves). They were a pair of clogs. Holland would have been ashamed. I am telling you now – they were the ugliest pair of clogs in the world. My hand crafted fridge magnet of clogs are prettier than the real thing. They appeared to have been covered in some sort of animal hair...It was light brown hair covering the foot attire – possibly that of a deer or bear! Seriously people – they were the most unfashionable, horrible, atrocious, appalling, distasteful pair of shoes I have ever seen in my life. Firstly, I honestly thought the “clog” had died out a couple of years ago. It became extinct. I admit, I owned a pair of clogs when I was probably about 5 years old and I thought they were the coolest things ever. Point being – this obsession was over 15 years ago. Where has this woman been? They looked like a make-shift pair of shoes that something a cave woman would wear. I mean they completely did not match her outfit to begin with, which is what I saw to be the first issue but then after seeing the clogs being worn down royal parade in the city of Melbourne, I actually felt a bit of embarrassment for the woman. It was an absolutely shocker of a crime and one that will go down as quite a fashion disaster. Come on people – I thought we would have known better than this. Yes; fashion recycles itself over and over again but it takes a good 20-30 years or more for this to happen for example take the reintegration of the high-waited skirt or trousers/jeans in today’s fashion world. Clogs haven’t made their spectacular return yet into this day and age and I doubt they will in the short term future. I won’t say they never will grace us with their presence again but in all honesty would anyone ever wear them? I hope to prove myself wrong and give them another chance and sport them under…I have no idea what, but for the time being I think I’ll steer clear of the backless one-hit wonder just for a little bit longer!
