Tight it up

Melbourne, being the fashion capital, offers a lot of diversity but sometimes it can just get a bit excessive and full on and you begin to wonder where people derive their inspiration from... After venturing out for a massive shopping expedition, which just turned out to be the bi-product of a day of hitting the town, I decided to stroll around the DFO at Spencer Street. I was confronted by a ridiculous attempt at keeping warm...
I waltzed into a shop of my choice, in the massive complex only to be staring at ‘sale’ signs so I got quite excited and started vigorously searching for frocks in my size. It was great and I scored a couple of items which was a fabulous addition to the wardrobe. However, when I went to pay for the items, a strange scene met my eyes. The girl at the counter was wearing the dress I was purchasing. I thought sweet, at least now I can see what these threads look like on a human, so prior to paying for the dress, I walked around the side of the counter to check out the length and how the dress hung on her frame. Turns out I was disgusted. Not by the dress but what she had done under it.
The dress looked fabulous and as it was quite a chilly day the shop assistant was sporting a black cardigan. This part was fine. The frock was a black, sleeveless, loose fitting knee length number with gold sparkly things at the top and thin black netting. It is a classy one and was perfect for what I needed it for but what I saw next was quite uncalled for.
Under the dark attire, the young lady had decided it was that cold she needed tights - okay - fair enough, but not white ribbed tights that had fluff balls all over them. To make sure she was super snug, she then proceeded to wear a black pair of plain ballet flats. Ok – the white tights were bloody ugly. If you wore black ones with a black pair of boots, life would have been great and rosy and she would have looked fabulous. The white tights were the ones you would wear in primary school. In some cases kids would rock up with the really thick tights which were ribbed, which was fine, but not under a classy frock that is black.
To go sticking on a pair of white fluffy stockings was the most hideous thing I had laid my eyes on for the whole day and then to throw on a pair of flats was just appalling. Honestly, I lost interest after checking out the tights but bought the frock anyway and got excited as I discovered it looks much better with massive heels! So all is well in that department...
White tights – Clearly this is an example of going way too far to keep warm...I mean DFO is heated to an ideal temperature to ensure customers succumb to spending their cash – so there was no need for her feral leg attire....it is not a place that wants to scare away people....the image still haunts me at this moment...
