Tops of a muffin

August 17th 2008 09:52
I can not understand the mentality of some people in this world. It has been said over and over again that exposing your muffin top is bad news, Everyone has them and it has become the social norm to ahh cover them up – hence the introduction of verryy long tops ... (I happily praised their arrival on the scene)...What incentive is given to those that choose to wear tops that are clearly toooo short for them and do not even reach their belt line?

At one stage I thought - ok shorter tops do indeed serve a purpose in this challenged world. They allow the prospect of snuggly fitting into your high-waisted jeans and not rolling up so disgustingly that you can see and feel the bunched up material through the skin tight jeans. That is the only service they offer otherwise they might as well be super tiny mid-riff tops which have no shame in letting your body access a heap for vitamin D from the exterior that is the world.

On my travels a few days ago I witnessed this exact site. The young woman had decided she would sport a hot pair of sass and bide jeans with about 7 tops on top. That is fine – as it was quite a chilly day in Melbourne however, under her large brown coat and layered tops, peaking through was some flesh. Her pale green and stark white long sleeved tops were a tad too short – length wise. They literally had appeared to have ridden up a good 10 cm above her waistline which was itself a victim of a metallic gold thin belt...(quite repulsive may I add). Meanwhile it was 8 degrees outside and she was exposing her intestines to hypothermic conditions. Where is the sense in this? There is none. There is also no sense in purchasing short long sleeved tops whose purposes are defeated when half your body is left out of the equation.

In cases like the above, unnecessary parts of your body become exposed and no one really wants to be seeing those extra bits everyone in society tries so desperately hard to forget they possess. Muffin tops have been criticized for years yet people are obviously ignoring this fact. Ridiculously long tops were invented for a reason and conceal all those unwanted areas of one’s body while being super classy at the same time...Your navel should not be a victim of treacherous freezing conditions...poor little belly button...
