WARNING : Disco balls are not meant to be worn

Oh my. Goodness me....picture this...flattening out a mirror ball (one that you would find at a ‘disco’ in the 70's) and wrapping it around yourself...then calling it a dress! This is the horrid site my poor eyes were exposed to last Sunday night in Melbourne. It was shocking! The young lady was strutting a dress covered in hot pink shiny material and sequins resembling a disco ball. I should have rephrased that and actually called it a singlet top...It was at least 20cm above her knee allowing for many disastrous effects if she ever were to have bent over during the night in her plastered state...Thank-god she disappeared and fizzled into the crowd because by all means that would have been a scarring image left chiseled into my brain...I would have got a whole lot more than I had bargained for and I am not talking about the dress. The dress (or should I say singlet top) was enough to have me in fits of laughter and experiencing feelings of disgust at the very same time. Seriously - who goes out like that? I would have seen it as being acceptable if say she was attending a dress-up or fancy dress party and she was turning up as a hooker but not in this case. I observed my surroundings and everyone else was sporting jeans, shorts and thongs...Perhaps I was very repulsed as she essentially stood out from the rest of the crowd who waltzed in wearing more subdued clothing but a HOT PINK, SEQUINED, TINY, FLASHY DRESS was extreme...Look in the mirror before you leave and ask yourself – Do I look hideous? Am I dressed appropriately? Should I maybe consider another outfit as even my friends are too embarrassed to leave the house with me?...Honestly – it was shocking attire and as soon as I laid my eyes upon her I thought “you are seriously not going to walking inside looking like that are you?”. If she did it to attract attention or highlight her pins then she certainly did a good job of it and I can understand that. The problem I have is that, if she actually thought that the frock was a stunner then we have some real issues... Perhaps she should have worn a pair of skinny legs underneath it. (Trust me it would have looked a whole lot better as I am sure her attire was not meant to be worn alone. I am positive it was a top!). The young girl in her frock would then not have looked so “I’m trying really hard to get noticed”...It was a disgrace and if I return to that venue it will only be to have a laugh at girls who rock up in similar attire and have a dance or two because it was a darn fine place!
